After completing a Bachelor of Medical Science by research in 2011 Dr Lambers returned for a second research degree this time whilst living in Western Australia. This 15,000 word research thesis is the output from Dr Lambers’ 2020 Master of Surgery Higher Degree by Research. It details the evolution of intramedullary nail designs and alloy selection, patterns of nail usage over time and analysis of a series of implant failures with laboratory investigation. Dr Lambers was awarded a Degree with Distinction by the University of Western Australia for the submitted thesis and continued research in the topic via a PhD at the same institution.
